Here they are. Topo 1, radio transmitter, Topo II and Topo III, Infared transmitter, B.O.B xa, Fred, and an Androwagen(one of three designs). I'm the one in bluejeans:)
This is a Topo base. Way overbuilt. The Topo III was redesigned and lost a lot of weight!
This is the base with the motors. 24 volt and way overbuilt. These motors were used in all large androbot projects. Topo's, B.O.B.'s, and even Doug Jones vacuum cleaners!
Interesting design for wheels. They are 2 piece vacuum formed ABS plastic. They grip the floor much better than expected. The cool flower petal pattern is a perfect design! They are reflective enough to use as encoders, but the encoders on Topo II and III go on the motor shaft for better resolution. No encoders on Topo I
Inside the tunnel are two 5.5 amp 12 volt sealed lead acid batteries. Now the common amp size is 7 amps or more used in alarms and back up power supplies. About the same power as todays Drill batteries and a lot less weight.
Here is the mother board. Pretty leading edge in 1983! All this board does is receive a RC radio signal (27 mhz) and run a simple h-bridge. Early boards had a charger circuit, later models had the charger on the back of Topo, Now a simple H-bridge is about 2 inches square and you can control this with a Raspberry Pico or a Micro:bit or an Arduino! With many more features! The radio control was quickly abandoned according to an Androbody as it was not FCC approved.
