Join our registry or find history on your Topo. See the pictures below to find your serial number. Then go down and see if it is already listed.

This is the sticker you need to find.

Find this sticker. The first number is the model, 0,2,or 3. Some may have a correction from the factory in marker pen. Be sure to note that.

Hobbyist model

If you find these stickers, your Topo was defective and was resold to hobbyist around the world.

inside sticker

Your sticker is missing on the outside, there may be another inside. This is a rare experimental model.

badge

This is not a serial number. This badge was made for the first 500 special edition Topo II models. It is nice to keep track of, but this does not tell us when the robot was made. They also are known for falling off. A lot of our registry this number was given to the factory on the warranty card. (The TXXXX000 numbers)  It does not tell us the manufacture date, or sequence number. Rumors of Topo III models having these, but not confirmed. No Topo I's had this. IR towers numbers do not match robot

How to decode your serial number

So, just like a car's vin number, your Topo serial can tell you a lot about it. And here is how!

TOPO SERIAL NUMBER EXPLAINED

Begins with a T, on the bottom, arm pocket, or on the chassis

Next number is the model 0, 2 or 3

Examples

    T0483150

    T2312013

    T3403026

(Early Topo III should be changed from T2 to T3 by a marker, but some are not)

Topo I (T0) next number is the Month (never went past 5)

Topo I (T0) next 2 numbers are the year, ’83 only

Topo I (T0) last 3 numbers are the sequence they were made that month 000-264 Restarts next month.

Topo II and Topo III

Begins with T

Topo II T2 (red top with arms)

Topo III T3 (no arms, just trays)

Topo II and III next number is the year. 83, 84, and 85

Topo II and III next 2 numbers are the month

Topo II and III ) last 3 numbers are the sequence they

were made that month 000-497 Restarts next month.

Robots that start with XT were experimental units used by designers.

Topo II and III IR tower numbers do not match the robot.

Robots sold in 1985 may look like this T500002, they can be Topo II or a Topo III. Not sure why this is, if you know, let me know.

Now that you have your serial number, click below to find.

Be sure to email me at smallrobot@hotmail.com with your findings.
